Not very specific due to many years of difference

This book covers the Rav4 in two different parts. A section with "2001 and earlier" and a section with "2001 and later." It's not very detailed and it doesn't cover every single step for a repair. It also assumes too much when describing how to take apart something. I used this book to replace the valve cover gasket seal on a 05 and it didn't help very much. It absolutely did not tell you how to take apart the surrounding areas around the valve cover so you can take take it apart. I ended up breaking the wire holder for the spark plugs on the right edge of the valve cover gasket. And the worst thing was, it didn't tell you to remove the two middle screws for the valve cover. The picture AND description only told you to remove the outer screws around the edge. Even the picture only shows the outer screws with the arrows on them but not the two middle screws. What kind of manual forgets the two crucial screws that prevents you from taking the valve cover gasket off?
I will not buy another Chilton in the future for any car. It's better off to spend the extra money for a factory to save yourself from breaking parts due to incomplete instructions. This is the same with the haynes manual for my Honda Accord.
