Better books about this topic are out there: I prefer them

Perhaps this book was, at one time, the only book that tried to incorporate notated Beatle music, music theory, as well as the topics of each individual Beatles' songwriting style, technique
and The Beales as a group. Some parts are very good and insightful. But times have changed. I read thru this book in 3 days; it's an easy arm-chair read.
For you songwriters (who know music theory), get the Holy Grail of Beatle music Books:
"The Songwriting Secrets of The Beatles" (by Dominic Pedler)-- about 100 bucks -- worth every penny! But this is not an "arm-chair" read. It's a serious study: over 700 pages that will enable you to unlock the songwriting secrets of The Beatles, with great insights into their compositions. I've read it twice and it's not an easy task. The second time thru, I played all the examples, etc. It's a serious study of Beatle music. Its' focus is mainly on the 2 main songwriters, but many examples, and insights, into George Harrison's songs: including his unique musical scales, modes, etc. are well examined, explained, notated, and well worth the read.
Other better books for you to choose: "The Beatles as Musicians" Vol. 1 and Vol. 2: a lot of music theory, but adds great insights that you can even apply to your own songs. All the newer books I've listed are great to have in your songwriter's "tool-box." However, I suggest, you must know music theory to read a book like "The Songwriting Secrets of The Beatles" and the others in this review. Might be hard work, but it's worth it. If you're not a music theory person: even "Revolution In The Head" (Ian MacDonald) and "Tell Me Why" (Tim Riley) are much, MUCH better than this "Twilight of the Gods; The Music of the Beatles." Spend your $$$ on the above books I've listed rather than "Twilight...Gods."

Interesting, but technical

If you're obsessed, as many (at least new, as I was,) Beatles fans are, you may want to read every page of this usually highly technical book. Unlike most books, it does get into _every_ song. It's just that a lot of the discussion is pretty advanced music theory and terminology.
