About the Author
Michael Prescott was born and raised in New Jersey and attended Wesleyan University, majoring in film studies. After college, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career as a screenwriter. In 1986 he sold his first novel, and has gone on to pen six thrillers under the name Brian Harper and ten books as Michael Prescott. Michael Prescott and Bonnie Parker are Back!

Bonnie Parker, part-time P.I. and assassin, is back and she is being pursued by the Russian mob. After eliminating Frank Lazzaro in her last adventure, she thought she had gotten away with it. But, she finds that one of her own clients has ratted her out. Rather than run, Bonnie decides to take the fight to the Russians.

What follows is a typical Michael Prescott read. It is full of surprises and packs a punch. Michael Prescott is at the top of his game with this adventure. You can tell that he enjoys writing this character. This third adventure is just as exciting and suspenseful as the first two. Count me in for more Bonnie Parker tales. I can't wait.

When I see a new Michael Prescott novel, I click on "Purchase" by muscle memory. It doesn't matter what the book is about. I am looking forward to reading it. I have been a fan since his Douglas Borton and Brian Harper days. He has never let me down and I believe he is one of the sure things in suspense writing. Get cracking Mr. Prescott, I am anxiously waiting for your next book! Well done!

“Bad to the Bone” is the third episode of Michael Prescott’s saga following Private Eye and part-time hit-woman, Bonnie Parker. Like her namesake, Bonnie is one kick ass and take no names kind of girl. She’s definitely not the girl you take home to visit Mom.

In “Bad to the Bone”, Bonnie takes on the Russian mob and needless to say, this is one exciting and fast moving book that I couldn’t put down.
This is a standalone book but if this is your first Bonnie Parker book, please read the previous two. I also highly recommend any of Michael’s spine thrilling, nerve-wracking and exhilarating novels. I enjoyed every one of them.

The story went all over the place, and I quit reading when she hacked a door lock in a hotel with a device in the power port of the lock. That is not possible! I really don't like stories that use hacking as a magical wand. Be creative, and get her in there by some other means, like wit.

As a poet he is anti-hermetic—he writes to be understood, and he is generous in sharing his observations. Translators and English-language readers alike can delight in the fact that the intuitive logic of his imagination essentially transcends linguistic boundaries.

About the Author
Andrei Sen-Senkov: He is the author of five books of poetry, prose and "visual poems". He is a regular participant in Moscow literary festivals, performing free verse and short prose. In 1998 he was an award-winner at the Turgenev Festival for Short Prose, and in 2006, 2008 was shortlisted for the Andrei Bely Award.
Peter Golub: Peter Golub is a Moscow-born poet and translator. He has published original work and translations in various journals, including ARC Poetry, Cimarron, and World Literature Today. In 2008 he edited an anthology of contemporary Russian poetry, which was published by Jacket magazine. In 2007 a bilingual edition of his poems, My Imagined Funeral, was published by Argo-Risk Press in Moscow. He is currently a translation consultant for the St. Petersburg Review, and is pursuing his PhD at Columbia University. He is the recipient of a PEN Translation Grant for a collection of flash fiction by Linor Goralik and a BILTC Fellowship for the poems of Andrei Sen-Senkov.

Andrei Sen-Senkov a new Poetical Voice

I would above all point the quality and original expression of a world view through a poetic and aforistic language so uncommon to what we are all dealing with in our rather modish recent poetic production.
Another horizon shines in the poetry of Andrei Sen- Senkov, there is a feeling of urgency, the sense that other memories and cultures are in danger...his book gives a view and a sense of what is happening every day...in his very special style and tone.
You can find a longer review of this book on my blog Yvette Centeno Literatura e Arte, where I also take notice of the cover, due to a Young Artist, Sveta Dorosheva, who already has an extraordinary portfolio of illustrations and artistbooks, revealing ancient and magical influences of past cultures and civilizations, she found in medieval codices, cards, arabic or persians tales...
Andrei was responsive to such an inspiration, being born himself in the distant Tajikistan and living now in a problematic Moscow, where he is already shining in cultural and literary circles.
I'll follow his work, hoping he will be translated with the higher quality he deserves.
Much is being said all the time in the West, and so little to be listened to in the East...

Preoccupied with industrial progress but wary of the disruptive power of organized labor, these elites led the Peruvian state into new areas of regulation and social intervention designed to protect and improve the modern, efficient worker, whom they understood to be white or mestizo. Their thinking was shaped by racialized assumptions about work and workers inherited from the colonial era and inflected through scientific racism and positivism.

Although the vast majority of laboring peoples in Peru were indigenous, in the minds of social reformers indigeneity was not commensurable with labor: Indians could not be workers and were therefore excluded from the labor policies enacted in the 1920s and 1930s and, more generally, from elite conceptions of industrial progress. Drinot shows how the incommensurability of indigeneity with labor was expressed in the 1920 constitution, in specific labor policies, and in the activities of state agencies created to oversee collective bargaining and provide workers with affordable housing, inexpensive food, and social insurance. He argues that the racialized assumptions of the modernizing Peruvian state are reflected in the enduring inequalities of present-day Peru.
