A MUST read!

This book was amazing. I love the fact that it is broken up to be a poem to one page.
I indulged in this book all in one sitting. The words were just art, page after page and I was captivated. I have read it cover to cover twice and loved it both times. The struggle in this book really made me teary eyed and I did cry. The love, loss and chance in this book are beautifully written.
As a writer myself, I truly enjoyed this.

This book of poems was simply amazing. It was a short read but it was a nice collection. It won't be collecting dust and forgotten by me. It flowed very nicely. It was easy to feel the emotions. I find it hard to relate to poems most of the time, but this collection will speak to anyone's soul. I am glad that I purchased it and can't wait to read more from the author!

A nit's best eye opener

I've wanted this book since its release but never got round to adding it to my poker library, so when I saw it available on Amazon for less than $50 I decided to buy it. Having previously read (and thoroughly enjoyed) The Poker Blueprint, I was expecting high quality content in this book and was not let down. Tri's writing style is clear, concise and made some of the trickier concepts easier to digest. I love that the NL Workbook contains theory as well as plenty of examples to put said theory in practice - which in my opinion is what makes a "good poker book" a "great poker book".

A little background information about my game:
I play SSNL 6 max online (super nit style) and as a result regularly find myself in spots against some of the better regulars where I tend to get confused/uncomfortable/a big brainfreeze, which resulted in me either hero calling without giving much consideration to their ranges, or being too weak tight in spots where an aggresive line should have been taken. A classic example is being afraid to play the optimal way "because I have been called/raised before in a similar situation" (most likely because I either bet or raised in the wrong spot/vs the wrong opponent)

After reading the book initially I spewed a little because I wasn't applying the concepts correctly. However as I read it a few more times, I gradually began to discover where I should be applying selective aggression, and where I should strongly consider folding (even though my instant reaction may have been to snap call).

My game is far from what I would call great, as I still make mistakes and get confused, but those situations seem to appear less often now I'm slowly moving away from the "I play my 2 cards" robotic button clicking approach, and am instead thinking more about the opponent's range as well as what they're likely to do with it. Now when I make a play, I ask myself why in my head and only go ahead if there's good reason to do so.

Having said the above, if you're not willing to put in the work, no book will make you a winning player. But if you dedicate some time to improving your game armed with the information in this book, you will get there eventually.

too hard to read on kindle

The NL workbook was offered as a kindle download; but it was too hard to read. the images of the card holdings could not be enlarged. I haven't tried using a magnifying glass, but in any case, I am disappointed that the fact that no one took the time to notice or resolve this. And, I will have to be cautious with future downloads of other books I intend to read on my kindle.

The tables are getting tougher...

Review for Daily Variance's Exploiting Regulars... Put it in your tank.

If you want greater insight into the modern view of poker, with a few gem-insights along the way, buy a book like this. Books like these will elevate you from "dangerous" to "fearless." You will be more able to make the correct play and be less concerned about how the cards may fall.

I play NLHE at a wide variety of levels (200NL-5000NL) both online and in live executive games that run very, very deep (300-500BBs). I regularly battle against 18-table rake-backing TAGs (many who have 2-3 million hands under their belts; but they still have huge holes in their games that this book illuminates), wealthy maniacs, live fish, as well as bracelet-winning "stars" and "red" pros looking to take out some well-healed execs over a bottle of scotch. I am often not the best or most experienced player at the table, but I usually find a way to survive. Well, I do better when I am folding every now and then ... As much varied poker experiences as I have, however, I am always looking for guidance in "putting it all together." And that is why I come to Daily Variance's publications; they put it together for me. They synthesize and organize what I already know and tell me things that I don't know or don't fully appreciate. I am a member of several coaching sites, I have read many of the e-books out there, and, each time Daily Variance puts out a new book, I still love having these at my bedside table... Tri's books always find a way of presenting absurdly common situations that I discover that I am yet to fully tank on.

If you have not mastered manipulating hand ranges and hand combinatorics, then these books are a must read. If you are good with such things, these books are still worthwhile, since they are insight into how another player/coach thinks about the game and they offer loads of hands to think through with the author (who will think about the hands in a way far more advanced than the "classic" poker books do).

Many people on the forums have questioned the value of paying hundreds and sometimes thousands of dollars for a poker book. But, I'd be willing to bet that you make at least one very large poker decision better next time you play if you study these books. One large pot won instead of lost means that even a $1K book starts paying for itself. I won a $2k+ pot that I would have otherwise lost if it weren't for having just read one of Tri's books... Disappointing.

I bought the book on the strength of a very appealing broadcast radio interview with the author. The story seemed to be strongly autobiographical, but many of the anecdotes were ones I heard in Sydney growing up in the fifties, and the voices I found inauthentic. For example, no young boys that i have ever known would talk to one another in long sentences with quite complicated vocabulary one minute, and in just-off demotic the next and the interactions with the men by the river were not convincing. The setting was very well conveyed, though.

About the Author
A graduate of Trinity College, Oxford and the University of British Columbia Creative Writing program, Paul A. Green has published poetry and prose in anthologies (Contemporary Poetry of British Columbia from Sono Nis Press, Words We Call Home from UBC Press) and periodicals, including Prism International, and The Canadian Fiction Magazine. His audio work is disseminated via alternative radio stations, podcasts, and on-line journals like Culturecourt.com. Paranormal enigma has been a constant theme in his writing, exemplified in plays like The Dream Laboratory, The Aleph (CBC Radio), Ritual of the Stifling Air (BBC Radio), The Mouthpiece (Resonance FM), The Voice Collection (RTE) and Babalon, his drama about occult rocket scientist Jack Parsons, recently enacted by Travesty Theatre in London - "one of the best theatrical explorations of twentieth century magick I've seen in a long time. Complicated story but very original

Paul Green's Qlipoth is not recommended for anyone with a short attention span and liking for more predictable elements of Sci Fi and Sword & Scorcery story telling.

This book is a heaving great chimera of themes, topics, genres and plot lines that merge to create an extraordinary monster of a tale that was as fascinating to read as it was impossible to fathom.

At first glance the tale appears deceptively simple. It is a journey into alternate dimensions where modern life has become peversely and comically skewed. Lucas is the son of dysfuctional sixties parents who runs away from his single parent mother Pauline to try and patch things up with his clinically insane father (sectioned on the recommendation of Pauline due to her ex husband's disturbing behaviour) Nicholas who is wasting away in a psychiatric hospital somewhere in the remote moors of Devon. However, Lucas doesn't get there because he is abducted en route by same of the strangest characters I have ever read in fiction and 'teleported', painfully and involuntarily into a bizarre alternative dimension.

And things just stranger from this moment as the plot undresses itself and the reader is taken on a giddying journey through time vortexes, stressed out supply teachers in inner city schools, psychopathic ageing rock stars, long forgotten top secret military psychic warfare projects and deranged entrepreneurs determined to make money out of psychic energy.

If you like impossibly surreal capers just about as 'out there' as the limits of reality's horizon extend then you will like this story.

I am very familiar with Paul's earlier work and was with a great excitement that I opened the pages of of his first novel,

I sum it up as Aleister Crowley meets Mervyn Peake!

It is End of the World Futuristic Scenario deeply involved with Satanic,

Gothic and some very Priapic Rituals!!

Read it slowly and enjoy there is so much humour to be found there while

dealing with very difficult topics.

Basic theme of the novel is that son, Lucas, goes missing after a row with

his mother and sets off to find the father he has never known who has been

detained for many years in a mental hospital!

What a journey!

I will not say is a Happy Ending here, the jury is out on this one!-))

It is a torturous route and ends in a very Paul A Green Spectacular Climax!

As a former Viper driver, I spent over 12 years of my life with this incredible jet. I like to assume I know the F-16 inside and out, so it was with a critical eye that I examined The Modern Viper Guide. This book is called the Modern Viper Guide because it examines the C and D models of the F-16 currently in USAF service. The book is softbound, 136 pages, and follows a detailed walk around format. The photographic coverage of the aircraft is comprehensive and thorough. Jake Melampy knows his subject very well, and enlisted the help of F-16 technicians to ensure the photo captions are detailed and razor accurate. The quality of the photography is outstanding; all of it in color. The author steps you through each section of the aircraft, providing excellent detail photographs supported by thorough captions. The first section of the book is a complete, up-close look at the jet from nose to tail. While examining every detail, this section includes the latest information and photographs of those things that typically confuse modelers, such as reinforcement plates, IFF antennas, vents, intakes, and chaff/flare dispensers. Here the author does an outstanding job helping the reader sort out these differences from block to block. Included in this section is an outstanding look at the landing gear with photos and captions that point out the differences between the lightweight/heavyweight gear and associated doors. For the superdetailer, there are fantastic detailed images of the F-16 in maintenance, as well as an excellent look at the Pratt 220E and GE engines. The coverage of the C and D cockpit is the best I ve seen anywhere, and the author does a great job of clearing up confusion over the various HUD/block configurations. Additionally, the book gives you a detailed look at all the external stores and suspension equipment currently in use on USAF Vipers. This is a very comprehensive section of the book that includes detailed photo coverage of the latest weapons for the F-16 including, but not limited to, AIM-9X, JDAM, WCMD, GBU-12 and 24, HARM, Maverick, and rocket pods. The author also gives a thorough examination of HTS, LANTIRN, LITENING II, and Sniper targeting pods, ECM pods, and TARS. Again, the walkaround type photography is outstanding, and the detailed caption information will help you sort out where it all goes. The last section looks at each block of the F-16C separately, starting with the block 25 and wrapping up with the block 50/52. Each block is covered in detail with photos and a detailed explanation of how to identify a particular block of F-16. This chapter is a welcome addition not found in any other book, and clearly sorts out the mystery of various F-16 blocks for the reader. As an F-16 pilot, I can tell you that this book is the most complete, accurate look at the F-16 available. The photography is stunning, and the book makes an interesting read as well. I even learned a few things too. If you are looking for the definitive source of F-16C/D information, then look no further than The Modern Viper Guide. Over the years, many F-16 books aimed at the modeler or enthusiast have been published. Unfortunately, all of them have come up short either due to inaccuracies or gaps in coverage. When compared to other books available, The Modern Viper Guide is the most comprehensive, accurate, and detailed look at USAF F-16 s. Jake Melampy wrote this book with the modeler in mind. The Modern Viper Guide is the ultimate F-16 reference and stands head and shoulders above any other F-16 book available. If you must get one F-16 reference book, this is it. UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!!!!!!

I have to admit that I almost didn't buy this book since I already have the DACO F-16 book. I loved the DACO book, and thought that there was no need for a new F-16 detail book. Boy was I wrong!!! The Modern Viper Guide is truly outstanding. I didn't know how much was missing in the DACO book. I never had any idea there were different versions, or "Blocks" of F-16s until I got The Modern Viper Guide. This book has it all! Each part of the airplane is picked apart. There is even information on how the hydraulic system and environmental system works!! This is the best F-16 book I've EVER seen anywhere!!

Some years ago, I considered the Daco book to be the best photofile book for Viper modelers. This excellent reference is still very useful for older versions or European MLU ones. However, for blocks currently used by the USAF units (30-32-40-42-50-52), this book is even better as differences between such blocks are clearly described for each area. Highly recommended!!! Saying that I'm eagerly waiting for the future Hog and Eagle books is an understatement...
